Werner Weiss

Werner WeissWerner Weiss is a founding member of the Austrian research institute AEE – Institute for Sustainable Technologies (AEE INTEC) in Gleisdorf. He was the Director of the institute until February 2020 and is now a Member of the Board. Werner has worked since the early 1980s on both national and international solar thermal and energy efficiency projects, and he has led numerous national and international projects, especially within the framework of EU, IEA, and UNIDO programs. Since 2009, he has been a Board Member of the European Technology and Innovation Platform on Renewable Heating and Cooling, and since 2010 the Austrian representative on the IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Programme Executive Committee and its Chair from 2010 to 2014. In 2007, Werner joined the Vienna University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences - Technikum Wien as a lecturer.

Ruicheng Zheng

Ruicheng Zheng is a Professor at the China Academy of Building Research, Chief Engineer at the National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Solar Heating Systems, and was the Director of the Committee of Solar Thermal Conversion of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society from 2004-2015. In her work, Ruicheng Zheng focuses on energy efficiency and solar applications in buildings and manages national and international research projects and cooperations. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of different national standards (e.g., ISO 22975-5 and GB 50495) and the author of several technical books. In addition, she is the recipient of the Outstanding Performance Award of the National Research Projects and the China Award for Science and Technology in Construction.

Bärbel Epp

Bärbel EppBärbel Epp is the Founder and Managing Director of the German consulting firm solrico. She is responsible for the international newsletter of the website solarthermalworld.org, reporting exclusively on market and technology trends in the global solar heating and cooling sector. solrico also created the first online World Map of SHIP suppliers (SHIP = Solar Heat for Industrial Processes) and annually surveys around 80 companies listed on the world map. For six years, Bärbel Epp has been the SHC chapter author of the annual Global Status Report on Renewables published by REN21. Bärbel Epp graduated in Physics from the University of Oldenburg, Germany.

Pedro Dias 

Pedro DiasModerator: Pedro Dias is the Secretary General of Solar Heat Europe in Belgium. He holds a management degree from the Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC) in Portugal and has extensive experience in both private and non-governmental sectors. Previously, he worked in the heating sector, specifically in gas retail and the commercialization of heating equipment.
